DENKIDO is a modular design that enables Pedelecs, S-Pedelecs and E-Bikes with a common frame. We target urban traffic and micro mobility about which we talk a lot. Middle engines had been excluded from the get go, their life time cost are too high for an urban vehicle. Middle engines have high load on their chain drives. Cassette, chain and sprocket have to be changed usually between 1000 and 3000 km. Annual services on eMountainbikes may easily result in 600 Euro for parts and dealer services. The rear hub motor has improved significantly after initial issues in the market and has much lower maintenance cost. Therefore the DENKIDO drive train is built on rear hub motors. For the Pedelec arising from the DENKIDO model series I’ve done a market research and decided for the technology of the Rath brothers. They are in the Austrian market with their technology for more than 10 years on geero and bikee eBikes and could achieve a quality recognition in the market. Therefore the entire drive train is a bought-in system from bikee in Steiermark / Austria.
I could file a patent for the Carbon Metal Compound Monocoque. It was developed together with an Austrian Carbon Company. Legatec is located in Enzesfeld / Lindabrunn, they did all FEM Stress and Strength Calculations based on the norm requirement DIN EN ISO 4310-6 for bicycles and eBikes. The Carbon Metal Compound Monocoque has a high safety margin towards material fatigue. This was an explicit specification book request as there are eBikes in the market that might show frame cracks after a few thousand of kilometers. The production frames will be manufactured from a German carbon Company. It was very important for me to have these frames manufactured in the German speaking industry and avoid to have a new technology manufactured in Asia. The technology affords significantly less labor hours than a carbon diamond frame and therefore the overall cost made in Europe are affordable. All quotations for production units are on hand and the project is profitable.
There have been 2 prototype stage 1 vehicles build. Prototype stage 1 was necessary to optimize technical details and the packaging of the bike. Prototype stage 2 vehicles are built with production intend. Prototype stage 3 will be pre-series vehicles and will be made 100 % from production parts. Prototype stage 1 vehicles have accumulated many thousand kilometers with several rider. Their feedback, observations, positive and negative comments resulted in the prototype stage 2 definition. Two prototype stage 2 vehicles have been built in March 2022.
Our participation in the Eurobike 2022 exhibition was based on the enrichment in customer feedback and to talk to potential sales partner in Austria and Germany.
